Hilary Duff got Mercedes-Benz G-class SUV as her 20th birthday present from her hockey player boyfriend, Mike Comrie.

At the Chanel and P.S. Arts Party at Chanel in Beverly Hills Duff told People that she had unintentionally put the idea for a new car in her boyfriend’s head.

“I was planning on getting a big car and I drive a big car anyway, and I was just like, ‘You know maybe I like the G-Wagon,’ and then I was like, ‘No, maybe I like the [Porsche] Cayenne,’ ” People quoted her, as saying.

Hilary Duff has revealed that she finds her $20 million fortune “scary”.

The Lizzie McGuire star commands $4 million a film and has her own clothing line and perfume.

She said: “I’m just one little person with so much money. I’ve got so much it’s scary.

“It’s amazing to think that I can take care of myself financially, as well as everyone around me. That’s a really nice feeling.”

Duff reportedly paid $90,000 for a watch earlier this year and has admitted that she spends a fortune on clothes for her pet Chihuahua.

Hilary Duff’s business manager has refused to let her buy her dream - a Porsche - as the singer-actress is not very good behind the wheel.

The 19-year-old revealed that the manager has banned her from buying the car because he thinks she was a ‘terrible driver’.

“The car I want is a Porsche Cayenne Turbo. But my business manager doesn’t want me to buy it - he says that I’m a terrible driver and don’t need that kind of car,” Duff said.

Hilary, who had earlier admitted her poor driving skills, insisted that she met with a ‘little accident’ once as she was on phone, but the manager was very particular about her being more careful.

“The other day I had a little accident because I was driving while I was on the phone. It was just a tap, nothing serious, so I thought, I’ll keep going it’s fine, whatever. But my business manager told me, ‘You have to be careful, because people will sue you.’ So I need to be cautious,” she said.

Hilary Duff has admitted that she is really bad behind the wheel. ‘The Lizzie MCGuire Movie’ star has said that her family and friends are all scared to get into the car when she is driving.

“The other day I heard a scratch as I was pulling my car out. I thought I just ran over some bubble wrap so I kept going. When I got out I saw my mirror was hanging off. Everyone is scared to get in the car with me,” Contactmusic quoted her as saying.

“My garage sometimes jumps out at me,” she added. Meanwhile, the 19-year-old will be seen opposite John Cusack in War, Inc. , due for release in late 2007.

Us Weekly reports that it has learned Hilary Duff has extended an electronic olive branch of sorts to ex Joel Madden, 28, and his four-months-pregnant love, Nicole Richie, 25, following the couple’s August 2 media blitz.

“After they appeared on Good Morning America, Hilary breezily texted Joel congratulations on the pregnancy, and Joel warmly responded,” a source tells the weekly entertainment magazine.
